About me

Hello, friends! I'm Mandy—a small town girl living in a nerdy world.

I grew up on the West Coast, mostly in a small town in Southern Oregon. I've always been a bit of a nerd—my parents named me Amanda after Amanda Grayson, Spock's mother, so there really wasn't a way to avoid it. In high school, I started getting more comfortable with letting my nerdy side show, but I didn't fully commit to the lifestyle until later. (It was also in high school that I met and fell in love with The Mister, but we didn't get married until a decade later. You can read more about our story here.)

After high school, I attended the University of Massachusetts, where I got a degree in English and Journalism. I then moved to Austin, TX, for a fresh start. I've been here ever since—and only gotten nerdier as time has progressed.

I like alphabetization, crafting, diy, family, friends, grammar, movies, Mrs. Mollie Weasley (our dog), reading and TV. I dislike allergies, being hot, dentist trips, people wearing mascot suits and public speaking.

Reading the blog will, of course, help fill in any missing details. (And if you'd like to get to know a little about why this blog is named Chocolate & Cream Cake, you can find out more here.)

I'm looking forward to sharing my nerdy life with you!
