obsessed.: theSkimm

I have a confession to make. I have become one of those people. I don't read newspapers or watch the news on TV, and I rarely read news sites. I ... I get most of my news from Twitter.

Getting news from Twitter can work well, depending on the people you follow. I follow a lot of pop culture accounts, however, so most of the news I get is of the entertainment variety, leaving me a bit lacking in the "what's going on in the world" department.

That's why I'm so excited to have found theSkimm. theSkimm is a daily (weekdays) newsletter filled with world news. Straight from their website: "theSkimm is the daily email newsletter that gives you everything you need to start your day. We do the reading for you—across subject lines and party lines—and break it down with fresh editorial content."

Here's a peek at the sort of thing I've come to love from theSkimm:

One of the many reasons I don't read or watch straight news is because it's so dry. But theSkimm is news with a side of sass. And it's the perfect baby step toward becoming less of one of those people.

  1. I love The Skimm! Great way to skim (ha!) the headlines in the morning, and get not-dry news!

  2. I've heard of this, but for some reason have never signed up. I tend to scan the headlines in the morning, but this seems so much easier!

  3. Exactly! I don't feel as terribly out-of-touch anymore.

  4. It's a hoot! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been.

  5. The skimm is amazing. Couple it with Comedy Central news shows, and I feel well-informed.

  6. I certainly wouldn't pick a fight with you on a newsworthy topic!
