Six things I can't live without

Recently, Kristin of My Life as a Teacup posted six things she can't live without, and I was immediately struck by the want to do the same. (I can never resist a list.)

My six things:

My planner

For the past two years, I've purchased the Tomorrow Planner from Poketo. Without it, I'd forget pretty much everything I'm supposed to do. Side note: It's the best I've found so far, but I still use multiple calendars for all of my projects, so I recently took part in Kyla Roma's Planner Camp, which I hope will help me create something that I can use for everything.

My iPhone

I know, I know. It's kind of ridiculous to rely so heavily on a piece of technology, but being able to be connected at all times makes me feel secure. Plus, it holds access to another of my must-haves: the Internet.

I don't wear much makeup, but I feel naked without at least a little bit of mascara. These are my four current faves: Revlon Lash Potion | Benefit They're Real! | Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express | CoverGirl Flamed Out

I don't drink soda anymore, so I need a dose (or three) of caffeine on a pretty regular basis to keep me going. I've also grown to like the taste ... depending on how much I can doctor it.

See above. Other than coffee and tea, water is my staple. I feel better when I've had a glass or two, too. I suppose there really is something to that whole eight cups a day thing.

A good book

I don't know if you guys know this about me, but I love reading. There are few things more relaxing than sitting down on a weekend morning with a cup of coffee and a book.

And I'm going to add a seventh, in the spirit of Valentine's Day:

This guy

He knows me better than I know myself. He knows when to push me when I need help, and when to give me a hug when I just need to feel safe and loved. Knowing you're loved unconditionally? That's the biggest thing I can't live without.

  1. I love your list!! :D A lot of these would actually be on my (extended) list too, because, dammit, I have more than 6 staples! Mascara, for sure. And lately, coffee. Multiple cups a day. Because.

  2. Love this list! Might have to do one myself...
And I can totally agree on a few of your items. My iPhone is my lifeline, both socially and for work. Water! I'm obsessed with my Camelbak bottle, as I pretty much drink exclusively water 6 days a week. I miss coffee! And of course, BOOKS!! I'll have to try out some of your mascara recommendations. I don't do much makeup, but I love having long, full lashes (which I don't naturally have).
Also, love your coffee mug. ;)

  3. I feel like the 'good book' might be cheating. That's like a whole category of things.

  4. Awh. Number seven. Because yes. That relationship is something I am completely familiar with and it is amazing. I would hate to live without that partnership. Awh. I'm all smiley that you have a Mister like that. So wonderful! (Also yes. Mascara. And the others, save for a smrtphone - my cellular telephone technology is, like, a 2001 throwback - absolutely! Great list!)

  5. Great list! Further reminder that I should REALLY drink more water. . .my go to is tea, which is mostly water?? But I know it doesn't count. Le sigh. This is the first year I've used a planner (vs. nine thousand random lists and notes scattered about my house) and it is absolutely something I can't live without now. Why I never did this before, I don't know!

  6. Love your list! Coffee is my #1 can't live without. :)

  7. I definitely could have kept going. :) Thank you for the idea!

  8. Go for it! It's fun. And this mug is one of my absolute faves! <3

  9. I tend to turn to tea when I'm just really tired of water, so it's allowed, haha.

And a planner is totally an essential. I have so much going on with the various projects and evening/weekend activities going on that I really have to write it all down so that I can remember it. My memory's crap.

  10. Thanks! And go for it. :) I'd love to see what you include.

I've tried to move toward a digital planner, but there's something about writing things down that I enjoy. I wish when I wrote them in my planner, they'd automatically transfer to my online calendars, but I suppose that's a future tech wish.

  11. Thank you. :) And I've had two cups already this morning and was just thinking I needed another, haha. Coffee = <3.

  12. Love the list! AND They're Real mascara! The secret is buying the smaller $10 size!

  13. Good tip! The one I have now is from the Sephora birthday present, but I'll for sure be getting more when it runs out.

  14. that's one of my favs as well- if you haven't already- try the bare minerals side line buxom. their mascara is fantastic.

  15. Thanks, Rebecca! I'll have to check that out, too.
