obsessed.: Love Actually

There are very few holiday movies—and I will fight you if you say otherwise—that are better than Love Actually. Even though it was released in 2003, it's already a classic.

Haven't seen it? Need a reminder? Here's the original trailer:

Go. Now. Watch it. Feel the Christmas in your fingers and your toes.

Sure there are horribly sad storylines in the movie, but I think that's what makes it so good. It's real—not everything in real life is a fairy tale. Real life is messy and complicated and awesome and beautiful all in one.

Besides. Any movie that brings us Hugh Grant dancing around 10 Downing Street cannot be bad.

P.S.—This post wasn't just an excuse to post that GIFset. Not entirely, anyway.

  1. i love this movie! my holiday movies have been home alone (1 & 2), the santa clause, nightmare before christmas (both a halloween and a christmas movie), and now the most recent addition, love actually. :)

  3. Trivia:
Sam (Thomas Sangster) does the voice of Ferb on Phineas and Ferb.
Joanna (Olivia Olsen) does the voice of Vanessa Doofenshmirtz on P&F.
There is one episode where they play with a Ferb/Vanessa romance just on the strength of the Sam/Joanna love affair in Love Actually.

  4. We've watched this one every year since it came out. We watched it a few weeks ago and of course Emily was crying, but all I could think about was that somehow Bilbo is a sex-scene stand-in. He mentions standing in for Brad Pitt once and every time I watch it I think, "I love you Martin Freeman, but no, that is not even remotely true."

    1. Yeah ... the Martin Freeman bits are so awkward, particularly now that I "know" him better. But he's still so sweet and loveable.

  5. And you just think it's the best because it's full of English accents and charm.

    1. I love that it took me like the entire first WD episode to realize where I knew him from. :)
