30 before 30

Happy birthday to me! Today's the day I move one year closer to becoming three decades old. To be completely honest, I'm kind of dreading it. I know it's just a number, but it's a pretty huge one. I used to look forward to my birthday every year, but since I rounded the corner into my late twenties, I've lost that excitement.

I've seen these "___ before___" lists around the Internets for a while now and I've long wanted to try one. Fiona of Life in Brief turned 29 in October and created her own 30 by 30 list—she's even already checked one item off it!—and inspired me to try and re-find some excitement about growing older (but never up!) in the coming year.

So here's my list (in no particular order). I'm making no promises that I will be able to pull all of these things off, but I'm definitely going to make an effort! I'll keep y'all posted as to my progress (and update this list as I go).

2. Go to Disney World/Land.

  3. Love your goals! I'm trying to tackle a 30 before 30 myself, because as much as I love goals, the 1001 in 101 was just too unmanageable >< Good luck! :D

Edit: D'oh, and happy birthday! Don't dread it! Eat cupcakes!

    1. Thank you Kristen! And 1001 in 101 sounds more like work than like fun.

  4. I've been so excited to see what you'd come up with, and this is a great list! I have no idea what indoor skydiving is, but I can't wait to see pictures from when you give it a go!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

    1. Aw, thanks Fiona! I hope it's OK that I "borrowed" a few ideas from you. I got to like 15 and hit a "welp" kind of wall. :)

    2. Oh, and indoor skydiving: http://austin.iflyworld.com/ :)

  5. I made a list like this, and then canceled it, because many of them were Austin-centric. I'm contemplating a 35x35 list, which would give me 5 years to do stuff, so it could be a bit "bigger" than I was initially thinking. We shall see.

Look forward to seeing you cross some things off this list. :D

    1. 35X35 is a great idea! Definitely could include more long-term goals on there that way.

  6. Great list, M! And seriously?! That indoor skydiving looks WAY awesome! I am TOO MUCH of a chicken to ever attempt the real thing, but this looks totally doable. Good luck on your goals! <3

    1. Thanks! :D And Colt is the one who actually really wants to go do it once it's built, but I'm game. ;)

  7. Happy birthday, Mandy!

I'm 31 and I was a little scared, too but honestly, 30 is my favorite. I bid my 20's goodbye and feel more "woman" than "girl" if that makes sense. Enjoy your 29th but 30 is fun to look forward to.

Can't wait to see what you cross off your list!

  8. i love your list! i wish i was still in austin to take you out and help with #30 on your list (since i am a geek for all things make up).
and i'm with diana- 30 felt great to me. it was like i got to fully step into the world where people took me seriously because i was no longer in my 20s. i finally felt like an adult. the only downfall is that now people can say "you're an adult and you should know better" ")

    1. Aw, that would be awesome. Perhaps I need to make a trip to Dallas at some point for some pointers.

And any time someone says that to me, I just want to give them a glare. (Did they always know better? I think not.) ;)

  9. This is a fun list! Can I suggest Alias and Firefly as possible tv series to re-watch?

    2. Great list, my Princess. See you taking after your father both in the DIY and Lists areas. How about going "indoor skydiving" together when I come for a visit.

  10. If only "Judge 10 guys' opinions on the best girl toy lines ever" was on your list, you'd have one more item to cross off! :)

  11. That was number 31! :) Thanks again for the fun.
