obsessed.: Downton Abbey

I know, I know. Why did it take me so long to start watching this most excellent—and oft-mentioned—show? I don't know. But I'm currently obsessed.

I've just finished season one and am in the beginnings of season two. A few thoughts so far:
  • I hated Thomas and O'Brien in season 1. They're still pretty awful.
  • Robert is a cool dad, particularly in this era.
  • I want to see Carson do a song and dance.
  • Maggie Smith can do no wrong.
  • Harriet Jones, Prime Minister.
  • Cora's speech patterns are bizarre.
  • Anna and Bates are absolutely adorable.

Are you a Cougarton Downton fan, too? Who's your favorite character? I've read that most of the actors have signed on to do at least five seasons, which is awesome. What do you hope to see in the "future" of this show?

  1. I can't stand Thomas and Ms. O'Brien. They make me want to punch something.

  2. Oh man, just you wait to see the rest of what Maggie Smith has to offer in season 2, she's my absolute favorite character.
I can't decide how I feel about O'Brien. She most certainly has a heart, but I think she's just too reserved and self-oriented to get along well with the other servants, and she also hangs around Thomas who is a bad-egg.

I just finished season 2 this weekend and absolutely can't wait until season 3!!

    P.S. I thought Cora's speech-patterns were odd too. I can't figure it out.
