Need a handmade gift for Mother's Day?

While Mother's Day is still a little under two months away (May 13), it's never too early to start thinking about what to give the very special ladies in our lives.

I like to go silly with Mother's Day gifts—in the past I've given my mom life-sized cardboard cutouts of Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Cam Gigandet as James (from Twilight)—but I do also go the sweeter route with good smells, photos of us, mom/daughter jewelry, etc.

Where am I going with this, you might be asking? Well, my mom recently opened an Etsy store and is selling handmade items I think would be perfect for the moms in our lives. (Dads, too! Father's Day is June 17.) The items are all-natural warming pads—think heating pad without the electricity.

Bagatelle Essentials Comforts warming pads are made from cotton bags filled with deer corn. Put the bag in a microwave for 90 seconds or so and you've got yourself a heating pad that conforms to wherever you put it on your body. You can lean on them and sleep with them without fear of any electrical issues. Plus, the heated deer corn smells wonderful. And no, it doesn't pop!

She's only got one listing up at the moment, but I know she's got supplies for many more, so definitely check out her Etsy shop if you're looking for a great handmade gift. (And make sure to contact her if that one listing sells!)

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this post in any manner, unless you take into consideration, you know, the 20+ years of good life Mom's given me/helped me have.
