Nerd News: The Lion King Rises, Prometheus, Star Trek 2 and more

Vol. 3, Issue 1

Welcome to the third volume of Nerd News! Before we get too far into things, however, I wanted to direct your attention to the brand-new Chocolate & Cream Cake Facebook page. Give it a "like" if you're so inclined? (You can also reach the page via the links at the top of the sidebar if you're viewing this on Blogger.) Thanks!

Now, onto what you've come here for. Some of this info is a little old, but it's interesting nonetheless.

In TV news:
Here's a promo for episodes 8 and 9 of Fringe's season 4:

Mondo continued it's line of Once Upon a Time Posters with Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

    (via)

Rumpelstiltskin goes on (or possibly already went on) sale today.

    (via)

It's fun to imagine Calvin and Hobbes as badasses.

    (via)

This is a pretty epic mailbox.

    (via)

I dig this new League a lot.

This "painting," however, is kind of icky.

    In movie news:

    • And excited by the new Hunger Games poster:

      A couple of previews/clips:

      Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

      Prometheus

      (via)

      Underworld: Awakening (TV spot)

These are some sweet posters, particularly the Horcruxes set.

I would totally sport this hoodie, regardless of how ridiculous it looks.

      (via)

      Over this t-shirt.

      (via)

      With this backpack.

      (via)

      And these Princess Leia headphones.

      (via)

Perhaps a version of this costume, too, on occasion. (For non-Furry purposes, mind you.)

      (via)

Maybe to go nosh on a Dark Vador burger while I'm at it?

      (via)

On second thought, no, that looks gross ... and the Jedi one looks even worse!

Open mic night on the Death Star seems like it would be a total hoot.

      (via)

      SCIENCE! (And tech.)
Preview Doctor Who: Worlds in Time—a browser-based Who game, not the Playstation one—online for free.

Also for free, and online: A sample chapter of The Winds of Winter, the next Song of Ice and Fire book.

Feast of Fiction, a new online series about the cooking of fictional foods, looks like a lot of fun. (Thanks, Rachel!)

How perfect is it that Belle is Rogue in this drawing?

      (via)

These ladies are totes adorable as well.

      (via)

      Hahaha.

      (via)

Today's RIPT Apparel and Woot shirts are excellent.

And finally, you know I love me some movie trailer mashups:

      1. I'm very excited/nervous about this Ender's Game movie. I think they're making some excellent casting choices, but I'll be interested to see who they cast as Bean. My knowledge of child actors is severely limited so I don't have a choice in mind for him, but I do love Harrison Ford as Graff.

      2. I love the adorbs Harley Quinn. It's super cute and retro and, also, her hair reminds me of mine. :)

      5. That new League made me smile. It looks awesome and i wish someone would make a graphic novel with those characters for real. Cumberbatch is moving on up. First The Hobbit and now Star Trek?! That's great! :)

      6. Wes-I need to read the book again, because I remember almost nothing about the plot. I remember really enjoying it, though. Have you read the sequels? (Have we talked about this before?)

Tish-It does! :) Both hair is awesome, btw.

Katie-Yes! So glad you stopped by and commented. :)

Rebecca-I just want Cumberbatch to be in everything so that he can become a (hilarious) household name.

Tim-That would be awesome! I would read that for sure.

      7. I'm so bummed about Amy and Rory leaving Doctor Who, but I suppose it's their time to go. :/
Totally loving those DC Comics pinups! I've only seen the three villains on Tumblr. Too bad there's no Batgirl!
