obsessed.: The Nutcracker

Last Friday, my mom treated me to a performance of The Nutcracker by the Austin Ballet.

I've long been a fan of this ballet—I even saw it once in Lincoln Center as performed by the New York City Ballet—and this was a lovely performance. The Nutcracker is one of those things that's just so quintessentially Christmas that I always feel so much more festive and in the spirit once I've seen it (regardless if it's live or on TV).

  1. This has always been one of the landmark events of my Christmas season. It reminds me of my childhood and makes me miss dancing. I love their costumes!

  2. I'm so jealous! I've always wanted to go see The Nutcracker at Christmastime!
I'll have to settle for the 2010 movie this year...

  4. Blace-It makes me miss dancing, too! Although I was only in ballet for like one year. (Jazz/modern was my preferred dance when I was little.)

Tish-You should definitely go if you ever have the chance. It's lovely in pretty much any form.

    Rebecca-Nice! I didn't realize I knew so many "former" dancers. :)

  5. yeah, i was planning on going to juilliard until i dislocated a hip. docs said i would never dance again and i thought i would be one of those 'shows what they know' sort of people and started it up again... and dislocated my hip. again. and this ended the dancing.

  7. note to me: rock climbing = leg dangling, all wobbly and unattached from hip.
