Nerd News: Fright Night, pretty Princesses, True Blood and more

 Vol. 2, Issue 23

I'm so disheartened that no one commented on my hilarious use of the classic "Hold onto your butts" line from last week! Consider me *mopeypants*. OK, not really.

Before we start, head over to Google today to play with the Les Paul-inspired doodle. Someone's already figured out how to play the Star Wars theme.

In movie news this week:
Some movie trailers:

Breaking Dawn: Part 1

Fright Night (with a shirtless David Tennant!)

A while ago I posted an illustration of a historically accurate Snow White. The artist has since illustrated more of the princesses:

And as I trolled through her gallery, I found this:

Needless to say, it's now my computer wallpaper. (Did you notice the Chucks of Rasillion?!)

Superheroines are awesome so it's only obvious that they'd make a kick-ass all-girl band.

In TV news:
While we're talking Torchwood, are you still mourning Ianto like I am? Turns out, he'll be "back" in a set of radio plays.

These paintings are stunning.

And I love these movie and video game posters.

More mashup art that will hopefully put a smile on your face.

And another great example of a steampunked character.

In game news (most of which came from Wes—thanks, sir):
Also thanks to Colt for this Facebook X-Men rap battle.

These scifi quilts are epic. (But why does Scotty have a neckbeard? *shudder*) (Thanks, Chey!)

I'll finish today with these.

  1. I LOOOVE the princess illustrations. I love anything fairy tales. (I may have mentioned that before. lol)
I'm glad Matt will be back for another season, but I'm ready for new companion(s). And then, I'll be ready for a new doctor. I think three seasons is enough. As much as I love David & Matt, I think limiting their time makes their turn as the doctor even more special. I mean, that's the beauty of the show! It's the same character, but new! :)

  2. Aren't they gorgeous? And I get what you mean about a new doctor ... Although I was so heartbroken when David left, I'm still recovering.

  3. I know what you mean about True Blood Season 4 and Eric. I won't put anything spoilery here, because I know that you know these things, but Book 4 is when Eric really becomes a main character and he's different from how he has been portrayed thus far. The events of the 4th season/book might help a lot, though.

New companion, eh? I would actually be OK with that. I like the Ponds, but the cycle of changing companions every 1-2 years works for the show. It keeps things fresh. I just hope they don't Martha it up. The companion should have some sort of connection to the Doctor. He should really care about her.

  4. Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about with regard to Eric. :D

And I agree. I do love the Ponds, but they need to get on with their lives. A new companion is always a bittersweet moment, but we must place our trust in The Moffat. ;)

  5. I still miss David, and I'd really miss Matt, but as much as I hated to say goodbye to David, I've grown to love Matt. So, I trust them to pick another Doctor that I'm going to fall in love with.
