Vol. 2, Issue 18
I am bushed. Who knew a field trip with a bunch of fourth graders could take so much outta ya? (Kidding, I knew.) Also, headed to the Thor midnight premiere tonight. It's a really good thing tomorrow is Friday. (I promise to at least try to get actual work done tomorrow.)
In TV news this week:
- Some spoilers on Neil Gaiman's episode of Doctor Who, which airs on the 14th.
- This timeline of
all of space and timeDoctor Who is super comprehensive. - Speaking of, this River/Doctor timeline is good, even while making my head hurt a little:
(via)
- Only six episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures remain.
- JEM is returning to television!
- Check out this printable season finale calendar.
- Molly Ringwald will guest star in a new episode of Psych.
- This full-length season finale-trailer for Fringe makes me very excited and a tad nervous:
You know what also makes me excited? The very-real possibility of a Doctor Horrible 2. (Thanks, Rebecca!)
I've fallen, hard, for Tom Whalen's illustration skills.

That episode of The Twilight Zone with William Shatner and that ... thing ... on the wing of the plane is the SCARIEST EPISODE EVER.
And—as weird as this sounds—how hot are these hipster versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione?

For you Mass Effect fans, these screenshots reveal Liara will play a role in the third game. (Can't. Wait.)
Jayne is such a perfect(ly flawed) character.

Side note, the Jayne hats are EVERYWHERE at Comic Con. (I want one, I'll admit it.)
In movie news:
- Do we need a live-action Hercules movie? I say: Only if Kevin Sorbo, et. al., are attached.
- Mark Ruffalo "previews" his version of the Hulk.
- Latest possible Hunger Games casting includes Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz. Wes Bentley will be playing Seneca Crane.
- Lee Pace has joined the cast of The Hobbit. (I didn't know elves liked pie.)
- Pixar won't be making any Marvel movies. Take that as you will.
- Loki, Thor's jerkstore brother, will be a villain in The Avengers.
- Doctor Strange's time is coming soon.
- The next James Bond film will be overridden with product placement—one-third of the film's budget will come from sponsors. (That's one way to solve a money crisis.)
- At one point, there were Star Trek Enterprise movies in the works. I know not everyone was a fan of this show, but I loved it. It served as such an amazing plot-hole filling device!
- Did you miss the news yesterday? The Star Wars blu-rays will have a metric crap ton of special footage.
- Rachel Weisz might be joining Disney's Oz.
- Highlander ... with fast cars and pretty women? (Just kidding, but Fast Five director Justin Lin is working on this reboot.)
- There's a 3D Glee concert movie coming to a theater near you. I ... I might have to go see this. (Even though I'm a totally awful Gleek and haven't seen a new episode since last December.)

Love these Doctor Who "bands".

Brilliant art, creepy (as hell!) villains.

I can never get enough of the minimalist movement.

Great "Like a G6" spoof for all you Dungeons and Dragons fans out there:
Thanks, Wes!
Can I get an awwww/HA?

Regardless of your feelings on the movies, these prequel posters go great with the Olly Moss-designed set I've posted about before.

This Alice in Wonderland restaurant is gorgeous. Too bad I'm not going to be traveling to Tokyo any time soon!
Inception meets Batman in this mashup-movie trailer, which is really well done.

The joys of Tumblr: Fox Mulder's many wristwatches.
Warm up your queues: Marvel cartoons are coming to Netflix!
And finally, My Little Pony mashups never cease to amuse/amaze:

The Doctor/River timeline was just what I was looking for, but still so confusing. lol
ReplyDeleteYody + Ewok = Gremlin?!?!?1 So cute!
Hipster Harry & friends actually look super cool. Ha ha. Does that make me a hipster?
I love minimalist movie posters, too. You know something is a classic if you can simplify it to just silhouettes and know exactly what it is.
I want all the posters! Especially the fake Doctor Who bands.
ReplyDeleteHipster Harry reminds me that I really want a scarf like that. The fact that the colors are the same as those of my college rival is the only reason I can't bring myself to buy one.
His owl sweater seems very appropriate.
Tish-I struggle with the existential "am I a hipster" all the time, haha.
ReplyDeleteJen-Ugh. I have a Gryffindor scarf (but I prefer to wear my Ravenclaw one). I actually found it, way back when, at H&M, of all places.
Ron as a hipster looks so David Bowie glam rock! (That's not a complaint). And Rachel Weisz in Oz? Yes, please. Total girl crush.
ReplyDeleteMegan-Good call on the glam rock! :)
