Haiku Revieu: Scream 4

Scream 4 (***)

More funny less scare
Unexpected as Ghostface
Sidney gets the shaft

I don't think I've ever seen a Scream movie in the theater, but I do enjoy a night out at the Alamo Drafthouse and I'm always down for celebrating birthdays with friends. I know the original three films were intended to be horror, but I really felt that this fourth movie was making fun of all the rest. Sure, there were moments where I jumped a little in my seat, but I was laughing pretty much the entire time. And so was everyone else in the theater.

Colt and I spent much of the movie playing guessing games as to who was behind the Ghostface mask. I'm not going to say who it was, of course, but it was a good twist. If you're a fan of the series, and enjoy when movies don't take themselves too seriously, then you'll enjoy this one too.

P.S.—I've added links to the various blog features I post in the sidebar, in case you want to read them specifically. I know everyone only comes here for Nerd News; now it's easier to find! (Kidding.)

  1. The first one was intended more as a parody or at least a very self-aware slasher film. I'm not really sure about the others. Kind of the same thing I guess, but it didn't hold up well. This was definitely a commentary on reboots and remakes of old franchises. They're always supposed to be fun, but still scary.

  2. Thank you Wes. :) I obviously don't know enough about this genre.

  3. I haven't seen the third one, the first movie was so great that you would really expect that the sequels would be much better. I hope this 4th film will still be good enough to make us SCREAM our way.

  4. ahhh, i saw the first scream...maybe the second too, i can't remember. but maybe i'll have to check this one out. i do like movies that make fun of themselves, so why not?
and snaps for the haiku review. you rock my socks. i do love a good haiku. :)

  5. Buy-I'm leaving this comment up, even though it's obviously spammy, because it seems like a real person wrote it and put some thought into it. I appreciate that.

Kenzie-Thanks! :D I wouldn't call them good, haha, but I make sure they follow the rules.
