Nerd News: Fast Five, Super, X-Men art and more

Vol.2, Issue 10

Lots of news this week. Let's get right into it!

Here's the latest trailer for Fast Five.

That fight at 1:21? Yeah. AMAZING.

In other movie news:
Check out the trailer for Super, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and Nathan Fillion in a very pretty wig.

This wild-west take on some of the X-Men is so fantastic. I now want to have a reason/the gumption to cosplay as steampunk Leia and wild-west Rogue.

And these X-Men: First Class international posters are really well done. (My dang hopes keep getting higher for this movie, regardless of what I tell myself.)

While we're on the subject of superheros, one of my favorite web comic writers Chris Hastings will be doing a Deadpool series. (Thanks, Wes, for the heads up!) From what little I know of Deadpool, I think Chris will do a lot of justice to the Merc with a Mouth.

In TV news:
Exciting stuff, this:

And I really like the look of this new cartoon, TRON: Uprising.

I feel like this mini-stormtrooper would get bullied by Mini-Darth.

(Thanks, H!)

Lucy Knisley does great work, this included:

Thanks, Rachel, for sending me her way!

Regardless of your views on The Phantom Menace, I think this is a really well-done musical farce.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Tractor beams are possible! SCIENCE! You guys.

Finally, I most definitely need these for when I eventually have a mini-person:

Think it would freak Colt out if I bought these and didn't mention it to him? And just left them where he could find them? (No, we're not planning on kids for a while.)

  1. Awesome...that trailer of James Gunn's Super has put a very, very big smile on my face. I should do a superhero movie too. How does the Invisibles sound...or does that already exist?

  2. I hadn't heard about the Neverland series, but now I'm excited.
(You now know my things for fairy tale interpretations.) (Although, Peter Pan isn't a fairy tale.)
I loved Tin Man, so I have high hopes.
Also, Keira Knightly as faerie reminded me of this short film, which I loved.

  3. so much win in this post of nerd news! first of all, Korra looks bad a$$ and i cannot wait for the new series. game of thrones trailer is baller, but the rock music? c'mon. midichlorian rhapsody made me cry from laughing. and we totally bought the cadet onesie for our nephew for christmas!!!

  4. Also- now I know I have until April 23rd to watch seasons 3-5 of Doctor Who! :)

  5. Alex Pettyfer isn't a horrible actor, he also isn't fantastic. I'd say he's on the better side of meh. But he sure is pretty.

Angelina's tomb raider was so much fun.

    Neverland sounds super interesting.

And totally buy those cute little mini-person outfits and then write about Colt's reaction.

  6. JM-You should! Superhero movies are always fun.

Tish-Yeah, I thought you'd like that. I'll have to check out the short film you linked. And good luck on the DW. I think David's the best, and series 4, with Catherine Tate, is wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Mariel-Good thoughts, all! :D And I love that I know someone who's cool enough to buy the onesies.

H-Good to know, and yes, he definitely is a pretty one. And I asked Colt what he thought about my little aside and he wasn't fazed. Darn him! ;)

  7. I always look forward to your Nerd News posts. Those onesies are soooo cute! Must-haves!!!
