December 10, 2010

Sunday is my 27th birthday.

Up until this morning, I was feeling much like this about the day:

This morning, however, I finally got excited and started feeling like I normally do about the day.

I've always loved birthdays, I've always loved my birthday. It's not really about the presents and the attention—although those are great, too, of course—but more about the reminder that I'm alive, and well, and living a fantastic life full of wonderful family, friends, pets, books, nail polish, tv shows, movies, sunsets, rain showers, laughs, Internet memes ... It's a day to feel special, and revel in it. (Age ain't nothin' but a number, you guys.)
Since I won't be posting this weekend, I wanted to post today, and share with you, my friends, some cake. Each year for a very long time, my mom's made me a cake and decorated it all fancy-like. She cut the Cullen crest out of fondant two years ago, she made vampire/True Blood lips and teeth last year ... In high school, she once set up a scene using mini Star Wars figurines, marshmallows and colored sugar. I know, you're all jealous. *wink* I can't wait to see what this year's is! (Oh, and in case you're curious, the cake itself is always Funfetti. The. Best. Cake. Ever.)

Enjoy! And have a great weekend, whatever you're up to.
