Nerd News: Cowboys and Aliens, Green Lantern, Harry Potter and more

Vol. 1, Issue 20

Happy Harry Potter Day everybody! Or at least, Happy Day before the Midnight Premiere. To celebrate, check out this adorable video of Rupes, Emma, Dan and Tom practicing their American accents. These kids got skillz.

While we're on the topic, if you loved those historical event FB statuses I posted a while back, you might also enjoy this look at what would happen if Harry Potter characters used the Internet. My favorite:
(Click to embiggen, or just check out the link above.)

This is going to bring the giddiness down a few notches, but I want to have room to bring the happy back before I sign off. If you're a fan of the Hunger Games, you've got to see this fan-made scene. I nearly started crying at my desk.

There's just no feasible way these movies can be PG-13.

In movie news:
Ran across a couple of movie trailers I wanted to share this week:

Green Lantern (natch.)

I've noticed that people on the Internets aren't happy with this trailer, but I'm not sure why. Ryan Reynolds in a skin-tight CG suit should assuage any fears that the film doesn't do the series justice, right?

Cars 2

Totally not what I was expecting. But you know it'll be great.

Cowboys and Aliens

Harrison Ford reminds me so much of my dad. I am so glad he's back in the public eye.

In TV news:
If you don't read know John Allison's  work, you should. I'll start you out with a teaser of his illustration style:
It's up to you to move on to what he's know for, his comics.

Do you like steampunk? Do you like Batman? If you answered yes to these questions, definitely check out this art contest.

And finally, these are cute. Not really my style, but cute nonetheless.

Expect me back tomorrow with a Harry Potter-themed Haiku Revieu!
